Today, I want to share one of our latest favorite dice games: Stuck in the Mud. Here at Family Game Shelf, we love sharing with you great dice games; some of our favorites include Ohio, Mafia, and Tenzi (perfect for getting and storing a large amount of dice. As well as playing dice games, we also love creating dice games for you too like Hockey dice, Ants to co-op dice game and Whacky Putt the indoor mini golf game.

What you Need

First, you will need five dice. Second, you will need something to keep score with.

How to Play Stuck in the Mud Dice Game

First, we need to say that Stuck in the Mud is one of those dice games that sounds complicated at first but is really simple once you play a round.

To start, one player rolls all 5 dice. When a 2 or a 5 are rolled these are stuck in the mud and are set aside. The score for the roll is zero. The rest of the dice are rolled again. If there are no 2s or 5s all dice are added up. Then all those dice are rolled again. On the other hand, if there are any 2s or 5s rolled, those dice are set aside and the score remains at zero.

Play continues until all dice show either a 2 or 5. Dice rolls with no 2s or 5s are scored and added to that player’s turn score. When all the dice are stuck in the mud, then that player’s score for that turn is added to his overall score.

This might sound complicated, but it’s actually simple. Hereis a sample play to show you:
