Pedro Pascal was so shocked after winning at the Sag Awards for his role in The Last of Us that he admitted to the audience that he was drunk – and he’s truly never been so precious.
After his win, he was clearly in high spirits as he teased that he had his sights set on a particularly Hollywood star for an afterparty make-out session.
During last night’s awards ceremony, the actor was nominated in the category for male actor in a drama series alongside Brian Cox, Kieran Culkin and Matthew Macfadyen for Succession, and Billy Crudup for The Morning Show.
Fellow star of The Last of Us Storm Reid was on stage to present the award with Ted Lasso’s Phil Dunster… and she couldn’t hide her glee as she announced that Pedro was the winner.
The 48-year-old was in a state of astonishment over his name being called out, covering his mouth with his hands before making his way to the stage as the rest of the guests in the auditorium and his fellow nominees applauded him.
After taking his statuette, he admitted into the microphone that the turn of events felt ‘wrong’ to him.
‘This is wrong for a number of reasons,’ he said shakily, before adding: ‘I’m a little drunk, I thought I could get drunk.’

Wearing a loose white shirt and black trousers, he expressed his gratitude towards HBO, the network that makes his critically-acclaimed TV series The Last of Us, in which he plays hardened survivor Joel in a post-apocalyptic world.
Pedro looked as if he was on the verge of tears as he said: ‘Geez Louise… I’m making a fool of myself. But thank you so much for this!’
The actor outlined how he had been a part of the actors’ union since 1999, so it was an especially large honour to win at the ceremony.
He then turned to the other actors who were nominated in his category, saying: ‘To the nominees, all of you, I can’t remember any of your names right now.’

As everyone laughed, Pedro paid homage to the creators of the TV adaptation of The Last of Us, as well as people at HBO.
‘It’s very appropriate you’ve given me a job because I grew up watching your network. I have no skills. I have no other interests. So the least you could do is give me a job,’ he stated candidly.
He pointed towards his agents to pay tribute to them, before also acknowledging his family.
‘My family is maybe watching, I’m not sure,’ he said, as he began to choke up with emotion.
‘I’m going to have a panic attack and I’m going to leave,’ he then concluded, as the camera panned to Barbie star Margot Robbie, who could be seen saying: ‘I love him,’ as she clapped.
Several fans absolutely loved Pedro’s acceptance speech, with one called Yulia writing on YouTube: ‘The way my ribs cracked laughing at the chaos unleashed by him during and post his Sag win. They were the funniest things to happen on the night.
‘Pedrotonine received successful!’
‘I love how sincere this speech is, he was genuinely surprised. I love him so much,’ said a user going by the handle @bruh-ch3hb.’
‘Even if he was drunk but l love his speech so much. It’s genuinely from his heart. Yess my man!! You deserved it all,’ added @pockyk645.
One person, aptly going by the handle @pascalcoded on X, wrote: ‘Pedro pascal’s reaction 😭😭😭😭😭 I love him SO MUCH.’
Referencing all of the speeches fans get to hear during awards season, @kenzvanunu added: ‘Pedro Pascal starting his speech “I’m a little drunk” and ending with “I’m gonna have a panic attack and leave” is exactly what I want from speeches.’
Laura Bassett also shared: ‘Pedro Pascal being legitimately shocked to win a SAG Award, admitting in his speech that he’s a little drunk and having a panic attack, and then going backstage and announcing he plans to make out with Kieran Culkin is why I love him so dearly.’
Nelly fully related to Margot’s reaction to Pedro’s win, writing: ‘Margot Robbie saying, “I love him” like GIRL SAME.’
Following Pedro’s win, he was being interviewed by Queer Eye star Tan France when fellow nominee Kieran was brought up in the conversation.
After Tan asked how badly Pedro was going to ‘rag’ the Succession star at the afterparty having beaten him to his award, the Game of Thrones star responded: ‘I’m going to make out with Kieran.’
