myu16 | myu16 Member 2000-Dec-17 6:20 pm How often is your cable down?On average, how often is your cable down? Are there times when it stops working for several minutes, then starts working again? This is extremely annoying, as there are times when all of a sudden, while I'm suring the web, I can't access anything for maybe a minute or so, then all of a sudden, everything's fine again. Anyone encounter this problem? |

| Pinan 2000-Dec-17 6:31 pm Yup, quite frequently really. I speed things up a bit by pressing the reset button on the back of the modem, once I know the line is out (check email first). And yes, it does bite. I feel your pain.;) |

| 2kmaro to myu16 2000-Dec-17 7:21 pm Mine seems to be either up or down for more than just a few moments. It does not happen frequently. Once, perhaps twice a month I'll find I've lost connection. In every case it has simply been a matter of waiting - often for an hour or two. I end up calling, getting a service appointment, and then 2 or 3 hours later, calling and cancelling the appointment. |

| Dante2 to myu16 Member 2000-Dec-17 7:34 pm It's rare for my service to go down (knock on silicon). At night the speed becomes almost unbearable at times but I've only lost connection a couple times since Aug '99. The MAIL server is another story. That's down for hours at a time at least a couple times a week |

| Ronin4740 to myu16 Member 2000-Dec-18 12:51 am In the past 10 months I've had service, to my knowledge, the cable modem has been down twice: Once when some knuckle head in a semi nailed a telephone pole, snapping the fiber lines that connect the headed I'm fed out of to the next hop Once the other evening in a sort of weird CM outage. The Cable Television service has not been out at all. Regards, Chris -- |

| Santa Fe to myu16 2000-Dec-18 6:08 am The mail is off & on, but that's ok. The only service problem I've had with @home, was one time, when it died on me, and I did an tracert, got pings of 4000+. But it cleared up in 20 or so minutes. |

| ChrisW123 to myu16 Member 2000-Dec-18 7:52 pm I've had @Home for about 2 months now, and my service has not been down that I know of. I web surf for a few hours a day. And I use email all day long since I telecommute, with Outlook Express set to check my mail every 2 minutes, and I've never noticed it down. *knocks on wood* |

System | to myu16 Anon 2000-Dec-18 8:54 pm I have the same problem. It goes down for about 1-5 minutes then starts working again. It usually happens a couple of times a night. It use to happen only every now and then but its happening more frequently now. I personally would trade some download speed for a more reliable network but I guess I don't have a choice. I've read somewhere that this means your gateway is overcrowded. |

| deanrich to myu16 Member 2000-Dec-19 9:41 am Mine is going out a lot lately. I keep checking for packet loss and it gets bad. There server is been down a lot this month as well. They give me a $10.00 credit towards my next billing cycle when I have 4 or more days of constant on/off down time. It keeps getting slower and slower since last year.
