How are y'all keep having issues with GHUB? - r/LogitechG (2024)

My biggest complaint is that it even has to ask whether i’m still editing the profile for the game I’m playing when I alt+tab to it.

f*cking yes? What else do you think I’m trying to do right now? I’m playing this game and alt+tabbed directly from it, to ghub, but you want to be really sure I’m not trying to edit my default Windows desktop profile? What the f*ck?

Besides that annoyance that makes setting up profiles for the first time hard (MUCH more on that later), I do often run into it not loading the game profile sometimes. That’s why I always set my RGB lighting to something else, instead of what I have on desktop by default, always. That way, I can tell that it didn’t recognize that it should have switched profiles—but then I alt tab out and back into the game, and it 100% loads my settings.

Besides that utter bullsh*t maybe once a week, it works. Never like how I wish it should, but once it’s set up and loaded any way I like, and I mean any way, it works.

But that’s just it, it is a bit of a pain to get there. What follows are the problems that really limit the ceiling on how good it could be, even if it worked as intended every time, as it has for me, for thousands of hours (if you ask nicely, I’ll regale you with the one bad bug I’ve had and how I fixed it)

  1. Every new game profile starts like as if you just got the mouse today with the same dumbass DPI cycle settings instead of your desktop default, so you’re not just making a few tweaks per game, you’re doing the whole f*cking thing from scratch every time: setting the same DPI you always use for everything as the one setting the profile has access to (does anyone really cycle between more than 2 DPI’s? PLEASE SOMEONE TELL ME, I’M DYING TO FIND THE UNICORN WHO LOVES f*ckING WITH THEIR MOUSE SENS ALL THE TIME)

  2. It also, for some reason, decides that only your default desktop profile only has access to some system functions like task switcher, so if you want task switcher to work in a custom game profile, have fun making a win+tab macro, but oh no, not just once. Every f*cking game profile needs its own macros. So actually have fun making your “custom” wintab macro manually for every single game where you want to use it.

By the way, I do actually love adding autorun support to games that don’t have it. Toggle macro to have W pressed down when I scroll right. Toggle hold shift when I scroll left to sprint. Actual QOL, saving my physical W finger in so many games from unnecessary stress. W to Logitech.

L to Logitech that I have to make the same macro for every single game I want to use it in, unless I manually change between desktop profiles, which totally sucks.

I have had them all. I have been through more mice than many of you have combined. When i really like one, it usually will not last longer than a year physically. I use them for both work and play, and often am swapping between two of the same for charging simply because I hate wire drag. I get my money’s worth, regardless of the model/brand—at least these days, no doubt.

I still love Logitech’s hardware feel, and while I have so many complaints, about the software, believe me, it’s still the best.

Seriously, at least I can work-around every single issue I have with it. And I can creatively address physical toil I have playing some games, which significantly improves accessibility and convenience in every single game I play.

I just wish using the software itself was more convenient—it’s like I have a logitech tax for configuring each game. But the repetitiveness makes me pretty good at it at this point, so it’s like my complaints hardly matter in the grand scheme, even for me.

All these people complainjng about it, are free to. I am even, but they haven’t even experienced a fraction of what I have, peripherally. Hell, I don’t even bother with reviews any more, because I assume the tech reviewer hasn’t churned through the number of different mice brands and models I have. Including far too many Logitechs over the decades, including all of their different software iterations.

This is not a flex. This is to say, after all these complaints, I still think GHUB is the best software I have used for peripheral configuration. It’s worst problem is toil, and as a software dev, I think it’s pretty easily solveable. I just wish they used their own hardware and software across as many different apps/games as I do and would recognize that toil as a serious problem. Fix that, easily the best, bar none, IMO
