It seems with two kids well into their I have turned into a taxi service. Quite honestly I am starting to think that the GPS that sits on my dashboard may appear like a taxi meter. But I know this phase too shall pass and when it passes I will wish I could go back to them being younger.
So, quick snacks that pack a good dose of protein to keep me satisfied on the go are a must in my house!
Bliss balls are my go-to snack because there are so many yummy versions out there the flavours are really endless. And they take minutes to make a whole batch that can last the week.

Ingredients & Subtitutions
- Almond Butter – Really any nut or nut butter subsitute will work and if you like extra crunch you may want to try making these with crunchy nut butter. If you do this though you may need a little extra to make up for the lost “butter” part from the nuts.
- Rolled Oats – I like the old-fashioned larger flake oats but even quick oats can be used.
- Slivered Almonds – sliced thin so they can mix well and roll well as they break into tinier pieces. But you can also subsitute chopped walnuts, pecan, cashews or hazelnuts.
- Chocolate Protein Powder – About 30 grams/1 oz of your favourite will do.
- Instant Espresso Powder – Deepens the flavour of the chocolate protein powder along with a little extra to give these easy bliss balls their mocha flavour.
- Maple Syrup – Adds a little sweetness and moisture to help bring it all togther into a batter.

How to make almond mocha Bliss Balls
In a large bowl add all of the ingredients and mix with a spoon or fork to combine. You may need a little muscle and if it seems a little dry you can add a tablespoon of water at a time or a little more honey.
The mixture is meant to be thick so you are aiming for a thick cookie batter texture.
Once mixed, roll a rounded tablespoon of batter in your hands to form a ball. Continue until all of the almond butter protein ball batter is used.
How to Store This Bliss Balls Recipe
Store these in the fridge for up to 1 week in a tightly sealed container. I wouldn’t bother freezing them because they take almost no time to make but if you must they will freeze. Before eating let them thaw on the counter for an hour to make sure the centre has thawed fully. I wouldn’t want you to take a bit and lose a tooth!

Can You Use Cafe Latte Shakeology?
So for those who don’t know a while back, I was a Beachbody coach. I’m not anymore and while I love Shakeology not everyone does so I adapted this recipe so that any chocolate protein powder can be used. Because we all have our favourite am I right?
To go back to the original Shakeology recipe swap out the espresso and protein powder for one heaping scoop of Cafe Latte Shakeology.
