Cox Cable and Internet Porblem

I just got my bill today and in it I saw that I was getting the very basic cox cable (the one which has 2-22 chans) along with my cox HSI. Now i have never ordered cox cable nor did i know that i HAD Cox Cable. So I called up cox and they told me they were going to send someone over to see if my outside line was connected or not. They told me if it was connected, they would charge me for the three months of cable i was signed up for, even though I NEVER SIGNED UP FOR IT and I didnt know i had it. Now, if they find that my line was connected on the outside, can they legally charge me for their service? I mean, i usually thought you needed some form of splitter to recive HSI and Cable in your apartment. I haven't got any kind of splitter, because well i didnt know i had cable. SO could you guys advise me on how i can handle the situation. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks

However, as far as I know, Cox has two types of billing for people with internet access - one with tv cable and one without tv cable. Perhaps that's where the confusion is. And as far as I know, you do not need a filter on the line if the cable is only connected to your modem. You possibly signed up for cable tv without realizing it.

Tell them when they do, you will pay the bill. They obviously wont have this and will most likely remove the charges without further question.

I was told the filters were for the internet because of the frequency, but I could be wrong, for this was a while back. By filters I mean the ones inside your home or outside ,not the one on the line. BTW, I'm started my own high-speed Internet service. It will be called....... Twatts High Speed Like Cox ,it will always be turned-on.

Here HSI without video is $45.00 a month HSI with Video is 35.00 a month Basic cable is 13.00 a month, so in reality you are paying $3.00 a month for basic cable, Beats an antennae if you ask me......

shawnbttu join:2002-02-20 Arlington, TX	shawnbttu Member 2002-Mar-8 2:24 am Yeah but here HSI IS 45.00, but Basic Cable is around 30,and so HSI and cable is 75 + tax and since I dont watch much TV, it seems like an unnecessary luxury. And aoverify, thanks for the advice, I will definitely ask them for some paperwork. Stupid cox, and just as I was about to begin to like their service again. Thanks guys

It would say if you had cable TV on it. Basic cable here in Phoenix is $13 for channels 2-22. Cox Classic 2-70 something is around $38 (includes the $13).

08034016 (banned) Hallo lisa Aus Amerika join:2001-08-31 Byron, GA	08034016 (banned) to shawnbttu Member 2002-Mar-10 3:28 pm to shawnbttu i know a person that built a home he called up cox cable they said we will come out and put COX-HSI service in not basic cable that person got basic to then he called the cable company up and they came out and put a TRAP on the line this TRAP is used for channels you dont order.it blocks the signal for video but if you have this trap installed on your line make sure the cable company does not put it on you computer room because if they do you will get no internet it blocks out all signals there's a trap where i live that they can put it on your line and you will get internet but not video your cable company cant not charge you for something you didn't order
